Farm Preschool Story Time
Have your little ones join us every Thursday morning at 10:00 for a farm themed story time lead by our very own mother, Mrs Susan. We offer these story times in the spring and fall for a 6 week session. Each morning will start with 3-4 books hand picked by Mrs Susan with songs, dance, nursery rhymes, flannel board and/ or hand puppets incorporated into that day's theme. Hosted at Crossing Creeks Farm.
Family Milk Cow Workshop
Join us for our second Family Milk Cow workshop in May!! This 2 hour workshop will be an intro workshop into owning and caring for a Family Milk Cow. Whether you have always wanted your own dairy cow or already have one, this workshop will cover the basics required for owning a cow. Sarah Burton of Sabbaticus Farm and myself, Elizabeth Stuart of Crossing Creeks Farm will be teaching this workshop. Sarah is new to owning dairy cows, but brings lots of experience and great info to the table. I, myself, have more than 7 years of milking under my belt. Together, we make a great team! We'll cover topics like land requirements for a cow, how to shop for a cow, grass fed vs grain fed, how often to milk, calf sharing, weaning, A.I. vs live breeding, milk parlor and cow tour and plenty of Q&A time. This workshop will be at the Farm on Saturday, May 11 from 10-12pm. Cost is $60 per adult and $40 per child (ages 12-17). Please email us at info@thebridgeccf.org to get registered but we also except walk-ins.
Poultry 101 Workshop
Do you own some laying hens? Or maybe you want to raise meat birds? Want to learn more about where your food comes from? If you have an interest or are already raising poultry, for eggs or meat, then we encourage you to join us for our very first Poultry 101 Workshop. Taught by Shane and Elizabeth Stuart, the farmers of Crossing Creeks Farm, they have over a decade of experience raising poultry of all kinds. You'll get a chance to not only learn the do’s and don’ts of raising poultry but also get to see the farm’s brooder room, chicken coops of all sizes, and hold some baby chicks and turkeys. Here’s a list of some of the topics that will be covered:
raising day olds, including brooder needs
feed options and supplements
housing requirements
stationary vs. mobile coops
finishing times for meat birds
basic breed options
differences in raising chickens vs turkeys and ducks
Much more will be touched on, plus you’ll have an opportunity for Q&A.
Class prices: $60 per adult and $40 per child (ages 12-17). Please email us at info@thebridgeccf.org to get registered but we also except walk-ins. 100% of this goes to the non profit for our farmer grant program.
